Autumn is certainly on the way! As the temperature has dropped quite markedly over the last week please make sure your child has a coat in school even if the day starts sunny.
Year 2 enjoyed a great trip to Aylesbury Museum on Tuesday to support their learning about the local area. I am delighted they had a good day but was even more delighted to hear that the pupils were commended on their exemplary behaviour and appearance when they were out. Well done to everyone!
Another highlight this week was awarding Gateway's first Merit Badge to James Palmer in year 5. Year 5 and 6 have had the opportunity to earn merit points for following our 'At Gateway' aims this term, and on reaching 30 points they are presented with a Merit Badge which they display on their blazers. I am hoping that I will be awarding many more before half term.
With the arrival of colder, wetter weather I would urge parents to park safely and considerately outside school. I have asked the Community Police Officers to help me by patrolling the area at drop off and collection times, and I will speak to any parent I see parked on our zig zag lines. The Link Road Car Park can be used all the time not just on Walk to School Week! Fire Safety was also on our mind this week as about 20 staff undertook Fire Safety training after school. This was a very informative session, please see the guidance for parents which Mrs Bantock has included in this newsletter.
We are looking forward to a busy Open Day this Saturday, I am very grateful to all the Year 6 pupils who have offered to come and tour our visiting families. I know they will do a super job!
