This first full week seems to have flown by and what a difference a week makes! Our new starters have now experienced a full week of Gateway life and appear to be loving it.
All the children and staff have settled back into school life really well and it is lovely to see them all approaching each day with such enthusiasm. Clubs and care have started with a flourish and the pupils are getting to grips with their new routines. We are also sending out our new style bulletin today for the first time. I hope that you like the new format. We would be very happy to receive your comments. We are also busy working on a ‘Who's Who’ of Gateway staff to help you to identify all the people in the school who your child will be talking about. As soon as all the photos are taken this will be sent out. There are already 'All About Me' information sheets about many of the new staff in the parents’ portal of the website http://gatewayschool-bucks.co.uk/ if you would like to look at these.
The new hall is proving a fantastic addition to the school. It is very light and spacious and this makes such a difference to the feel of the room. The whole dining hall experience is more pleasant and being able to hold whole school assemblies is a great asset. The new kitchen has had a few teething troubles but the chef and his team have coped brilliantly with these set backs and I think we will be back onto the usual menu from today.
Our new school council have been appointed and have held their first meeting of the term. During this meeting they elected our chosen charity for the year Aylesbury Homeless Action Group. This excellent charity provides help and support to homeless people or those facing homelessness.
On Thursday the whole school was very considerate when the Year 6 pupils took their 11+. We were very proud of them all, they were calm and focussed throughout. I am sure they have all done 'their best', which is all we can ask of them. They will now be turning their full attentions to all the opportunities and learning available to them in Year 6!
I hope everyone enjoys a restful weekend and comes back refreshed and ready for another busy week.
