Another busy week has flown by as we have enjoyed our week in lovely autumn sunshine. The school celebrated Harvest Festival during assembly on Monday, we were joined by Rev Carolyn Bailey from The Church of St Peter and St Paul. Rev Bailey was impressed with the singing of the children and spoke about thankfulness and kindness through a story. The donations were divided up amongst two recipients this year - Chiltern Foodbank and Woodlands Care Home. Both organisations were overwhelmed by the generosity of the children at Gateway and have subsequently contacted the school to give thanks. Thank you all for your kind efforts.
In Senior assembly on Thursday Mr Wallace and his class inspired us with the words to a new song to encapsulate the 'At Gateway we ASPIRE to ....' set of values. This will be learnt by all the school over the next couple of weeks. When we are up to Mrs Izard's exacting standard we will record the pupils singing and load to the website. Something to look forward to!
Work on developing our Houses is moving on apace. The pupils from Year 1 and above have all been allocated to a House. We have staff leading the four houses and all teaching staff from Year 1 and above are allocated to a House team. I will announce the House Leaders next week after we have told the school! The children will be enjoying their first House Meetings before half term.
Sports teams have continued to strive for success this week, with impressive wins for both the Year 5 Netball A and B teams and the U11 footballers. Good luck to all the runners representing the school at the Hughenden Valley Cross Country run on Saturday.
We will be welcoming prospective parents to the school on Saturday morning who will be expertly toured by our super Year 6 volunteers. Thank you to those families who are lending us their children for the morning. They are a real asset to the school.
Enjoy the lovely sunny weekend, and I look forward to a Gateway Fantasy Rugby Team update on Monday. Competition between the staff is really hotting up now!
