Mrs La Farge's blog

I enjoyed seeing many parents who attended the Curriculum Evenings this week. All the staff have spent a lot of time putting their presentations and activities together so I do hope that you found them informative evenings. We would very much like your feedback.

The development of the House system at Gateway has moved on a pace and is becoming quite a talking point and a great incentive for pupils to strive to be the best they can be so that they are awarded tokens for their houses. The staff leading the Houses were announced in Assembly and all teaching and support staff have been allocated to a House. The list can be viewed on the staff board in the entrance hall.

Mr Bridges has organised another fabulous Walk to School Week for us all and this time walking has been linked to the award of a House Token which has helped to motivate the pupils to get involved. Please read his informative report.

I have also been delighted to present our first House Merit badges to four Seniors this week. These pupils have already been awarded 30 merits for a variety of different things - excellent effort, great work, kindness, impressive sporting achievement. The list could go on. It is very pleasing to hear the variety of reasons for their merits and to see that staff are really rewarding such a great variety of achievements.

As we approach half term I must just inform you that we will say a sad goodbye to Ms Amy Clements next week. Ms Clements has worked at Gateway for just over 3 years and has assisted across many year groups and in After School Care. I know she will be missed by all the staff and pupils and we are very grateful for her hard work during her time here. Ms Clements will be staying within the Bellevue group as she is taking up a role in the Marketing Department, so hopefully we may still have her visit us. I am also sad to report that I have received Ms Holroyd's resignation and she will leave us at Christmas - luckily she will see us through the Christmas productions and will work her usual magic to ensure stunning singing performances from our Juniors. Ms Holroyd will be replaced by Ms Penny Wilkes, who joins the team in January.

I hope all Gateway families enjoy a restful weekend so that the children are all ready to give their best at the Celebration assemblies next week. I look forward to seeing you there.
