Next week we will be marking Remembrance Day with the creation of our own Field of Remembrance using small crosses which the children will be bringing home today. Please see the note about returning these on Monday or Tuesday next week. I am also looking forward to attending the Remembrance Service on Sunday at St Peter & St Paul Church in Great Missenden with some pupils from School Council and Year 6. They will be laying a Gateway School wreath as part of their service. This was created by the Year 5 and 6 pupils under the guidance of the creative art department and is stunning. I will make sure we have pictures to share next week.
As usual it is the season where we are looking for donations for a number of things. The Pencil Case Christmas Appeal we launched before half term has already been well supported, thank you. The collection box for these is by the photocopiers. Please remember the stationery items do NOT need to be new, just sharpened and working. I was hoping that the children would enjoy getting these items together to send out to schools in Africa.
The FOG reps are also hoping that donations for the various stalls will be flooding in next week! They are working very hard to ensure that we have a super Christmas Fair with lots of appropriate activities and stalls. But of course need help to bring all their great ideas to fruition.
I really enjoyed our first Music Tea of the year. Over 25 pupils played and for some it was their first public performance. The audience enjoyed their playing and everyone appreciated the tea served afterwards. Please do encourage your child to play in a future Music Tea - we love to hear them!
