Bienvenue au trimestre d'été à l'école Gateway. We have thoroughly enjoyed our first French Day today. The children all entered into the spirit of the day and Dan Roro enthralled all the Junior children with his genuine French entertainment. The show was fantastic and the children loved learning about the language and culture through his dramatic production. His talents on the unicycle and with juggling were amazing. The younger pupils enjoyed a great range of French singing, dancing & games. My thanks to Mr Lloyd, Ms Atkins and Mrs Morrell for their inspiration and organisation of the day.
When we interviewed and appointed Mr Clark we knew he had a passion for Outdoor Education and I am delighted that he has been keen to introduce some new activities to Gateway School this year. The clubs programme now includes an opportunity to learn about orienteering and the climbing wall is seeing more use. Next week sees another sporting first for Gateway - 23 children are competing in an Independent Schools Association Triathlon in Herefordshire. The competitors are having some additional training after school today from Paul Gardner (board member of British Triathlon & Regional Triathlon Coach), Melinda Atkinson (current British Team Age Group Triathlete) and Zoe Allsop (cycling coach) in managing the transitions during the event. This is an exciting opportunity for us as I am sure the children will love it and will enthuse others to have a go. Mr Clark also organised a very interesting talk on Wednesday evening on sports injuries by Elite Physiotherapy. Thank you to all the parents and children who were able to attend this anatomically informative session. I hope you found it useful.
