What a very exciting week at Gateway! The long awaited triathlon day dawned on Wednesday and 23 very excited children set off for a challenging day in Herefordshire. I know that I join children and parents alike in being very grateful to Mr Clark for his drive and enthusiasm to make this event happen. He was ably assisted on the day by Mrs Hughes who was invaluable in supporting and helping to get the children organised with the different events. Thank you also to all the parents who assisted with driving and transporting kit for us. Not only did the pupils have a great day in very challenging weather conditions but they also came away with an impressive number of medals.
We are very lucky at Gateway to have the benefit of such dedicated and inspirational teachers, and the pupils have been really enthused by this addition to our activities. I hope that the Chesham triathlon will be as successful and thankfully a little nearer home!
On Thursday some pupils from Year 6 took part in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, a national event that is primarily aimed at Years 7 and 8. Whilst there was both excitement and trepidation at the start of the challenge, all of the pupils applied themselves with an exemplary degree of maturity; we now await the results which should be available next month.
The staff quiz team have been swotting up on hot topics of the day in readiness for our assault on the FOG quiz this evening! We are looking forward to the evening and I am sure it will be a great start to the long weekend. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
