Firstly, I must thank you all for your support for the magnificent Christmas Fair held last weekend. FOG could not have done it without your help! Following on from this we have had an extremely exciting and successful week here at school!
My week started on a high when I accompanied the Year 5 and 6 science teams to compete at the Science Inter School Quiz Championship. The teams had prepared well and performed brilliantly. We all thoroughly enjoyed the event and are very proud of them.
On Tuesday our Year 6 partnership with the Museum of London begun and my thanks go to Mrs Poor and Mr Atkinson for leading this exciting project. All the Year 6 pupils are working with staff from the museum to create their own app on their history topic of Crime and Punishment. What a fantastic opportunity for all the pupils and they will continue with this project next week when they visit the museum to gather more material for their apps. It makes you want to be back at school!
Year 1 pupils all headed out on Thursday on their Explorer Morning in Great Missenden and I know they all had an exciting time investigating their local area as part of their Explorer topic. They had a fantastic time making dens, measuring trees and going on a very long walk! They returned with many stories to tell.
I believe that all these extra opportunities are a really important part of the curriculum which is offered at Gateway. I am delighted that the staff here plan and make such good use of the wealth of opportunities on our doorstep. Learning is brought to life with trips outside of the classroom setting and pupils learn so much from these days out.
I am looking forward to ending my week on a high watching the choir perform at the Winter Wonderland Concert in Wendover. I hope to see some of you there.
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs La Farge
