Dear Parents

What a busy, but a thoroughly enjoyable ten days – I don’t think there are many other roles that are so busy yet so fulfilled and varied – goodness knows what I’m going to do with myself all summer…! We have truly ended the year on a high. The last days have been filled with many fantastic events which we were delighted to share with many proud parents. Thank you all for your support of all the staff and me this last year. We do appreciate it.

The brilliant Year 6 children impressed their parents and staff with a super production of Edith's Wartime Scrapbook. This was a moving story which the Year 6s were able to empathise with from their historical enquiry into World War 2 this year. There were of course many talented individual performances but what impressed me particularly were the pupils I wasn't expecting who came alive on the stage and we all enjoyed seeing a different side to them. I am always amazed at the professional standard of the productions here and am very grateful to Mrs O'Hare and Mrs Izard for their inspiring direction and production. It was a really brilliant show - thank you!

Senior Sports afternoon ran like clockwork in perfect conditions and was enjoyed by all. Once again the children had been well prepared, were organised into appropriate races and we enjoyed some close finishes. This event helped to reinforce the marvellous sportsmanlike behaviour which is instilled into the pupils here. It was lovely to hear the genuine encouragement and praise from the pupils for each other.

The Year 6 parents and children managed a quick turn around to attend the Leavers Evening at Missenden Hall. I enjoyed the opportunity to speak individually about all the super children and to provide a small flavour of the contribution they have all made to the school during their time here. They have been a great bunch!

It is always sad to say goodbye to children and staff leaving Gateway this year but I am sure that they will all go on to enjoy their next schools and I hope they will continue to live by their Gateway ASPIRE values. We wish them all the very best and hope they keep in touch.

I hope all Gateway families have a super summer holiday and I look forward to welcoming many of you back in September.

Kind regards
