Dear Parents

It suddenly feels a lot like Christmas - we have heard the cheerful sounds of all the children preparing for their productions, we have learnt in assembly the meaning of the Advent candles and then the fantastic Gateway Christmas tree was erected and lit outside the hall yesterday. Mrs Wilkes and I proudly helped the Year 5 and 6 school council decorate a Christmas tree at St Peter and St Paul’s Church with some beautifully creative decorations made by all the pupils at Art Club last week. The display of decorated trees will be on show all weekend at the church. The excitement is mounting .....

Tonight is Disco night and a big thank you must go to the FOG committee, in particular Mrs Bawden, the FOG team and the parent helpers for organising the evening for the children. It has been hugely popular. Alongside this event, FOG are also very busy working to organise a wonderful Christmas Fair for all of Gateway to enjoy on Saturday 10th December (11am - 2pm). Please help them out by supporting your year group reps to make this a great day. It is the first time we have held these two events on the school site and it is super to see the extended hall in use to benefit the whole community.

Last Saturday the school hall was the venue for the Bucks Inter-Schools Chess Tournament which saw 17 teams from 8 schools compete against one another for the first time in 20 years. There were many great matches and results from Gateway players, including 3 out of 3 wins for Finn C. After a close competition, Beacon came first followed by Gateway in second place. Our congratulations go to all of the children involved.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the Christmas productions next week. The children and their teachers have worked hard to get these shows ready and I am sure they will make us all very proud. Please check the timings and venues of the various events which are listed in the Office Bulletin.

Kind regards

Sue La Farge
