Dear Parents

It was lovely to welcome all the pupils back to school for the busy Summer Term ahead. I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the lovely weather we had over the holiday period. Suddenly we seem to have been plunged back into winter! The children were fantastic during our whole school photograph on Wednesday morning even though it was a tad chilly. They listened carefully to the instructions given and the whole process was very efficient.

It is with great excitement that we have also welcomed a pair of nesting blue tits to Gateway School this Spring. The box was erected in 2010 and these are our first inhabitants! The couple have built a nest and there are now 10 eggs in there. Mr Tyler has managed to get the camera working so that we can monitor the activity. The children are really excited about the 10 eggs that have been laid and the live feed is open in many classrooms. The incubation period is normally two weeks so we are expecting the hatchlings to hatch very soon. If you would like to follow this excitement at home the following link should work - birds.

Mr Grosse ran a fantastic marathon last Sunday. He finished in a time of just over 4 hours and we are all very proud of his efforts. He even managed to take his Cricket Club on Monday evening after school! If you wanted to make a donation to his chosen charity, the British Red Cross, this is the link.

You should receive our Termly Overview sheets today so please look out for these. They provide useful information about what your child will be studying this term. The rest of the term is also planned out now, so please take note of the relevant dates which were sent out this week and we look forward to seeing many Gateway parents at the events planned this term.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend and I hope that the temperature rises again. I am worried about the eggs in our nest!
