What a glorious way to end our half term! It has been lovely for the children to be able to enjoy the school grounds in the sunshine. Today we celebrated a Gateway Science Day, and the school was buzzing with practical learning activities and many challenging scientific concepts were explored. Once again we have been fortunate to welcome Mr Borgeson, a parent and real life rocket scientist, to school today to run workshops with Year 3 and Year 6 pupils. What a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn from someone working in such an interesting field! Please see what everyone was up to in the bulletin. We were also pleased to welcome back our Year 5s and hear their tales from Ironbridge.
We also welcomed visitors from other Bellevue Group schools this week. We were joined by five teachers who spent their time in lessons and speaking to many of the children. This provides a great opportunity for professional development both for Gateway teachers and for the visiting teachers. I was delighted that in their feedback, amongst many other positives, they were extremely complimentary about our lovely pupils. They enjoyed speaking to them and some words and phrases that they used were: ‘engaging’, ‘confident’, ‘polite’, ‘eloquent’ and ‘respectful of each other’s ideas’. I am sure that this accolade will make you all very proud of them. It certainly demonstrates that the Gateway Values we all work hard to instil in the children, are those which will ensure they are able to succeed and thrive as they move through the next stages of their lives.
I hope everyone has a very happy half term break, and the continued good weather helps us all to recharge our batteries for the busy half term ahead.
