As this lovely sunny week finishes, I have once again been so impressed with the Gateway team of children and staff.
The Year 6 pupils have returned to school after their fantastic French trip (see report below) and have been immersed in a week long rehearsal for their Lion King production. Luckily for us, the hot weather has meant that doors and windows have been open and we have all enjoyed listening to them rehearse and have started to sing along! The talented team of Mrs Izard and Mrs O’Hare have worked tirelessly with the Year 6 children and once again, we are going to be in for a very special evening when they perform for us at the Elgiva Theatre. Please do come and join us, there are still some tickets available for parents and children from all year groups.
This production has been a real multidisciplinary effort, with the pupils also being involved during their Art/Tech lessons. Mrs Mock, Mrs Osman-Allu and Mrs Crossfield have come up with some very creative ideas for costumes and have helped to make some fantastic masks. With the expert and enthusiastic help of so many teachers during their specialist lessons, they have been inspired, thoroughly engaged and fully prepared for this ambitious project. The Year 6 production is such a highlight for the leaving pupils and is an opportunity for them to really shine, demonstrating just what a super-talented bunch they are.
Please remember, it is Walk to School Week next week and the JRSOs are looking forward to rewarding our walkers with House Merits and stickers.
Have a lovely, sunny weekend and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Year Ahead Meetings next week.
