What a fantastic start back to the second half term. The weather has been extraordinary and it has been lovely to see the children and staff spending time outside and enjoying the grounds. Let’s hope this is the start of a sunny Spring.
Already this half term is buzzing with activity and purpose. In many classes and specialist subjects, the children are completing their Take One Picture work. The picture has sparked a great deal of interest and independent research by the children, and I know that when it is all put together in the exhibition next week it will really showcase the breadth and creativity in our curriculum. We look forward to welcoming parents to view the exhibition with their children from 3.00 - 6.00pm on Friday 8th March.
The Sports Department have lined up a very busy half term for the older pupils. After an excellent regional round this week, Gateway already has 4 pupils qualified for the Independent Schools Association National Cross Country competition, which is a fantastic achievement in itself, and there are also many upcoming netball tournaments and football events for the children to look forward to.
I am looking forward to watching our excellent Chamber Choir compete in the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition at the Royal Festival Hall next Monday evening. This is the third year that Mrs Izard has trained the Chamber Choir to such an impressive level that they have qualified for the final of this prestigious competition. This provides an amazing opportunity for these young people and something that they will be able to talk about for years to come.
Year 3 and 4 have also started preparations for their end of term productions, and I know that all the pupils will benefit from this opportunity to work together and to confidently present two really excellent shows to their audience. If you have not yet had a chance to lock the dates in your diaries, please do so.
Friday 29 March Year 3 production, 2pm, Great Missenden Hall
Friday 29 March Year 4 production 2.45pm, Great Missenden Hall
Lastly, my grateful thanks to all the parents who were able to complete the parental questionnaire and provide valuable feedback about Gateway School. The results will be closely analysed and we will feed back the findings at the start of the summer term.
I wish you all a restful weekend and hope that we see the return of the lovely spring weather.
Mrs La Farge
