Mrs La Farge's welcome blog
12th September 2014
This first full week seems to have flown by and what a difference a week makes! Our new starters have now experienced a full week of Gateway life and appear to be loving it.
All the children and staff have settled back into school life really well and it is lovely to see them all approaching each day with such enthusiasm. We are sending out our new style bulletin today for the first time which includes news from each year group.
The pupils from Year 1 and above have also had a first go at pre-ordering their lunches. I am confident that this will help us improve our lunchtime offering and also ensure we minimise waste. I am a firm believer in the nutritional benefits of children enjoying a hot meal at lunchtime and would like everyone to give the new system a try. We will of course still be providing the individual meals needed by our pupils with special dietary requirements.
Year 6 pupils have now taken their 11+. All seemed to take it in their stride and they certainly concentrated really well during the actual testing sessions. I am sure they have all done 'their best', which is all we can ask of them. They will now be expected to turn their attentions to all the opportunities and learning available to them in Year 6!
I hope everyone enjoys a restful weekend and comes back refreshed and ready for another busy week.
